The Foundry was the only venue that we viewed. Once we visited The Foundry, we knew immediately that this was the place we were meant to be married and celebrate this great event. The Foundry is a exquiste space with brick walls, a mezzanine loft area, a celing made of metal and skylights and the space has added details such as urns and tubs. The Foundry has several areas: The main area; the Greenhouse; the Courtyard and the Terrace. The Greenhouse is attached to the main are and is a beautiful room with a fireplace and ivy growing throughout. The Courtyard is a big area outside and ivy is growing on all of the buildings. The view is absolutely beautiful. The terrace area is breathtaking with a view of the Manhattan skyline; 59th Street Bridge and the East River. Julie and the other staff provide excellent customer service. We are so fortunate to have found such a beautiful and unique space. All of our guests commented on how beautiful the space was. We will be recommending The Foundry to family and Friends in the future.

Everyone will not stop raving about my wedding...especially about the location i chose. They all said it was perfect for me, which i do agree with, but what is so unique about this location is that there are so many ways to give it a different look. The foundry has so many different areas/rooms to rent, that it enables you to build the perfect look you are going for. I fell in love with the spot at first site, and am soooo HAPPY that i was able to get married there. The staff is amazing. The place is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone looking to "wow" their guests, and themselves...

My wedding was on October 8th 2010. I don't even need to say something about it. It's the best place to have "NY" wedding!

WARNING! Do not waste your money on using this venue for a special event ESPECIALLY not your wedding! first of all it is over priced and they charge you extra for everything!!!! Before wasting your time scheduling an appointment to view this venue, please be aware that it DOES not include tables, chairs, linens, OR a caterer, so be prepared to spend at least 5K in rentals (I didn't know this until AFTER I signed the contract..{my lack of research in that dept} )AND you will spend at least 11k for a good caterer. If you add that up, that is 16K! then add the fact that the main space is 7500, and if you want to use an additional room, you will spend 2K so thats a wopping 23,500 dollars...AND you have to pay extra to use their sound system..add 400 dollars to that. Oh to top things off, if you get JULIE to work the day of your wedding, be prepared for the WORST attitude you will ever experience in your life!!! Allison is a money hungry B!!!! and knows absolutely nothing about customer service. I hope the money that she got from me that I worked so hard for brings her the most miserable life that hell can offer her. As you can tell from my post I am NOT happy about my choice, and I encourage you to please look at other places that are WORTH the money such as Galopogis or Angel Oregansanz, or even Oheka castle. Trust me, words cannot express my dismay. 55% of my pictures were ruined because their rods were broken, and they decided NOT to fix it for my wedding, and instead TACKED curtains agains a door. The curtains weren't even nicely hung on a ROD for my wedding!!!!!!! Scroll up and recall how much money I SPENT! And when I addressed this after the wedding, all I was given was a SORRY! SORRY cannot FIX My wedding pictures nor does it compensate me for my disappointment. Needless to say I will be taking these money hungry people to court. But I hope that this post WARNS future brides, so that they dont make the STUPID mistake I did!!!! Only reason why I even rated this 1 star is because I put all the flaws aside the day of my wedding because I married the person that I love, and thats what is important. PLEASE do not waste your money on this place and make the heartless ppl that own the place more wealthy. I also think its important to know that years ago they only charged about 3K for this place, so they have been raising their price every YEAR, for the SAME exact venue. Yes they made a few changes in the past few years, but nothing that justifies it costing this much.

The Foundry was absolutely amazing for our wedding - the venue is one of the most important decisions when planning a wedding and this is by far the best venue my fiance and I found in the NY Metro area. A very unique venue for weddings, which definitely impressed our guests!! The Foundry ladies that run the event space are beyond amazing & extremely helpful! The only reason I put flexibility less than 5 was because they book quickly ... so hurry up and visit the space!

The Foundry is a gorgeous space. It used to be a working foundry, and the design is airy and sculptural -- the walls are brick, the celing is metal and glass, there are huge skylights that go all the way up to the high roof, and the space has beautiful details like urns and tubs. They share their courtyard with a landscaper, so on weekends the courtyard is filled with greenery and flowers. Their terrace is gorgeous with a fountain and really simple, lovely furniture, and has a view of the water, the Manhattan skyline, and the nearby bridge. The design, look, and feel of this place sets it apart from other venues and was the single biggest reason we booked it.We had a 70-person wedding, and only used the first floor inside the building for the ceremony and reception, with the cocktail hour on the terrace (so we did not use the courtyard). They can set tents outside and acccomodate a much larger wedding than ours, but I think that 65-85 or so guests is perfect for using just the first floor of the building. The terrace and courtyard are extra costs.Cons: The space is on the more expensive side. You have to be in and out on the same day, no exceptions, so you can also incur costs for late-night rental returns. (Although they do allow 12 hours instead of the 8 given by some other spaces.) There wasn't a ton of space to get ready -- just one smallish dressing room for the bride -- so the groom and the wedding party did the majority of their getting ready offsite.Pros: Obviously, the space itself. So amazing. The people who run the space are great, very professional and responsive. They are also great at giving you lists of recommendations for vendors. The space has a big, full commercial kitchen for caterers. The venue also has some furniture already -- we used their bar tables upstairs, benches for tables we set in the alcoves downstairs, and their large black table for gifts and escort cards, so we did save some money with rentals. You also save on decorations, because the space itself is so gorgeous that you don't need to embellish much.

Choosing the Foundry for our reception venue was one of the best decisions we made. The exposed brick, ivy walls and dual level structure created an non-traditional and intimate feel that was exactly what we were looking for. So many guests commented on how beautiful and unique the venue was. The staff and the Foundry was always helpful and the preferred vendors list they provided was invaluable as so many of our other great vendors came from this list.

Our 100 guests are STILL raving about how unique and gorgeous this venue was. We had our day ceremony and afternoon/evening cocktail reception inside (we saved money by having the wedding on a Sunday in August) and we did not rent the outdoor spaces because our guest list was on the smaller side. This space is truly one of a kind and totally suited the urban yet romantic feel we were going for. The women who we worked with (Allison and Julie) were responsive, pleasant and organized and their list of recommended vendors also came in handy as we were pricing folks out. Please note though that you are responsible for al rentals and that can add up (all chairs, tables, everything) but honestly this means you have the flexibility to create whatever suits you and your guests tastes. We did a non-stop cocktail party and were able to fit two full bars (one upstairs and one downstairs) with ease and there was enough seating in the alcoves and tables we brought in to make people comfortable. This was an incredible venue and we priced out and looked at many others (mostly loft space in NYC) – by far this was one of the best decisions we made – it totally set the mood for the type of wedding we wanted and was worth every penny.

What can I say about the Foundry that hasn't already been said?! Our guests spent all night raving about the absolutely gorgeous space, and the staff are so helpful and competent. I didn't worry about the venue for a second. We didn't spend a lot on decor, because I really wanted the beauty of the structure to be the focal point of the room. We had the ceremony indoors, with rows of chairs facing our "altar," the white curtains on the doors, and other guests standing above on the mezzanine. We inadvertently timed the ceremony at sunset, and the sunlight just streamed in. So beautiful. For cocktails, we went out to the courtyard, and then everyone came back inside for dinner. We had 111 guests seated on the mezzanine and main level, and even with the band and dance floor, everyone fit comfortably. We had the terrace and courtyard rented all evening, so people could go out and enjoy the breezes and views, but it ended up being a bit chilly so those spaces weren't used very much. However, the courtyard was great for the 5 little kids we had there to run around in uninterrupted. The place is expensive, but I really think the venue sets the whole tone and look of a wedding, so to me it was worth it.

The space is beautiful and so flexible - you can really do anything you want with it. The built-in sound system is great for a DJ to plug into with an easy set-up. The new outdoor terrace immediately adjacent to the event space is fantastic - our guests really loved it.

The Foundry was perfect in every way. We worked with Taryn and she was wonderful -- she was always available to answer my crazy questions and really helped trouble shoot the inevitable mishaps on the day of the wedding. The space is beautiful and our guests loved the entire wedding. And the kitchen is a caterer's dream -- it's huge!

The Foundry staff was great. However I do recommend that you hire an outside coordinator or an individual to oversee the event. They have too much to do to make sure that your event is exactly as you wish it

The Foundry is an amazing space and I have no complaints about the venue itself. Taryn was extremely helpful in helping us learn about the details of how to best use the space. It proved to be gorgeous and we wouldn't have wanted to have our wedding anywhere else. They were very flexible and accommodating, letting us store things there the day before, being very responsive to emails and calls, and very helpful in the planning process. My only complaint was that during the wedding I could not find the Foundry staff and they even offered to assist by working as coordinator for the night. I asked Taryn to pay vendors for me, but vendors couldn't find her. That was the only thing and I'm sure she did a lot of other things to help make the wedding smooth throughout the night, as my photographer saw her emptying the bathroom trash throughout the evening.

Very friendly & helpful staff whom were able to make many great suggestions. They went as far to invite all couples whom had an upcoming wedding to their new year's party which was very nice (& a great chance to scope out the venue further). The location itself is a beautiful raw space that needs little/no decoration to look beautiful, yet much can be done to make it look different. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a cool non-conventional wedding venue.

The Foundry is a beautiful space for a party. I didn't have my wedding there, but certainly would have if I had found it before I was married. My sister's sweet 16 was there, and it was phenomenal. What a space!! It's gorgeous on it's own, and can be used with little or elaborate decorations. It has a nice outdoor space and upstairs loft. It's not cheap, but what place in New York is? They also have a great list of vendors that have worked in their space.
