Cakes Confidential

I came across Cakes Confidential in a New York Post article about budget brides, and after my fiancee and I decided to skip the cake cutting in favor of just having the cake that was already included in our food menu at the venue. When my mother strongly disagreed with our decision, I thought I would be stuck paying $8 - 10 a slice. Instead, I found Anya Swarek and her masterful "fake cakes" selection of foam cakes covered in real fondant icing, and realized we had our solution. I toured the midtown showroom, picked out a white cake with orchids, which were our flowers, and Anya even responded to my questions about a slight tilt in the cake by making an entire new one, which she asked for my special requests on colors and details for. The whole thing, with delivery and pickup (yes, they take the cake back and re-use it after your wedding) only cost $350. Versus the $1,750 it would have cost at least for a real cake for our 175-person wedding. Plus, no one could tell it was fake because there's a little hole in the back of the cake she fills with real cake and covers with the same icing, puts a few flowerbuds to show you where to cut, and voila! Photo op! Then they roll the fake cake into the kitchen and serve the real cake in slices. I recommend Anya highly, she's a true artist with her delicate flower work, and no worrying that the stale multi-tiered cake will taste bad!

Anya was easy to work with and we were able to create a wedding cake that fit perfectly with our theme. My wedding cake looked amazing.... no one knew it was rented. Also, the chocolate sheet cake was a hit. Overall, this was one of the easiest parts of planning our wedding!!!

Everyone should rent their cake. Our cake was stunning, affordable, and the cake they served tasted better than any wedding cake I've ever had!

I highly recommend Cakes Confidential. We had a tent wedding in August. With the rental cake we didn't have to worry about it melting in the sun. It tasted great too!
